This sleek and powerful WalthersMainline General Electric P42 diesel locomotive brings modern passenger rail power to your HO Scale layout. Available with factory installed ESU sound and DCC, this HO scale P42 is the perfect choice for expanding your passenger fleet. First built by General Electric between 1992 and 2001, the P42 “Genesis” is now one of the most recognizable diesel electric locomotives on North American rails. Packing 4250 horsepower under its hood, this powerful diesel achieves a top speed of 110 mph. Most of the units serve on Amtrak intercity service throughout the United States, although several are in operation north of the border with Via Rail Canada. This WalthersMainline model captures all the details of its modern classic prototype, including accurate molded and separately applied parts and prototypical paint schemes. A top-of-the-line WalthersProto drive, metal Proto MAX couplers, LED lighting and metal wheels ensure a lifetime of reliable operation. This model is equipped with a factory installed ESU Sound and DCC decoder for extra realism. It is operable on both DCC and standard DC layouts.
